The Differences Between IIHS & NHTSA

Our dealership isn't merely concerned with selling cars. We want our customers to be satisfied with their purchases and to always stay safe in their new cars. To that end, we seek to educate our customers regarding safety ratings and how they can effect purchases.

The two organizations that publish safety ratings have different yet complementary purposes. IIHS is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, an institution that a co-op of insurance companies formed. The NHTSA is the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, an institution of the federal government.

The IIHS and NHTSA perform different types of crash tests. Therefore, being familiar with both helps to provide a comprehensive understanding of the safety value of any car you may be considering.

Having reviewed scores from both organizations, come to our showroom here at Gunther Volvo Cars Delray Beach to test drive the safest vehicles you have found.
